Are you a recent Graduate wanting to kick start your software development career? Do you have strong C/C++ skills and a willingness to learn?
Sirca has an established Graduate Program is seeking a recent IT Graduate with the following technical knowledge and skills:
Selection Criteria:
- recognised degree in computer science or other relevant field (strong academic marks will be highly regarded); \
- strong C/C++ programming skills;
- a solid understanding of the software development life cycle;
- experience working with Perl and Unix Shell Scripts;
- experience using JavaScript, Tomcat, Linux, MySQL;
- interest and/or experience with financial market data (ideally Reuters).
You will join our Data Consult team where you will provide programming support to our academic members to facilitate their effective use of our products. You will consult with students and researchers regarding their data requirements and assist them to extract that data from our databases. In addition to this, you will develop code to extract complex data sets and will also contribute to the maintenance of our proprietary software and databases.
You will also have the opportunity to work on research and development projects.
As you will be providing phone and email support to our members, you must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. In addition to a “can do” attitude and a keenness to learn, we are looking for Candidates with the following:
- strong customer focus / customer service experience;
- strong problem solving and analytical abilities, including debugging and performance improvements;
- well developed time management skills including prioritisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines;
- ability to work independently given some scope and direction.
