Senior Quality Assurance manager

The Senior Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for driving Sirca’s QA strategy and for ensuring that quality is achieved across all areas of the organisation: software development, testing, systems architecture and performance, client support and documentation.  This will involve defining and implementing the QA strategies for each area, promoting continuous quality achievement and improvement, monitoring compliance, identifying deficiencies and evaluating and minimising their potential impact on the organisation.  

 

This role combines both strategic and operational responsibilities including:

  • design, execute and maintain a Quality Assurance Management plan across all areas of the business;
  • develop and manage practices to raise quality during software development such as: continuous integration, code coverage analysis, code reviews, code quality tools, automated code testing tools; 
  • develop or specify standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness;
  • create testing programs that address areas such as API and database impacts, software scenarios, performance testing, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability, DRP & BCP testing
  • develop and manage practices to ensure quality throughout all phases of development including requirements, design, and right through the code and test phases in all systems
  • manage the planning and execution of product testing efforts to meet committed delivery dates:
  • ensure test procedures are well documented to ensure reusability and compliance with standards
  • write technical and management systems reports  

 

Selection Criteria:

  • degree in computer science, software engineering or related technical discipline
  • strong commercial QA experience, including 5 years in a management role
  • solid experience using software engineering practices and administrating QA metrics
  • demonstrated ability to develop, document and implement strategic QA plans across all areas of the business: software development, systems architecture, testing, client support
  • experience improving development practices to raise quality such as: continuous integration, code coverage analysis, code reviews, code quality tools, automated code testing tools
  • experience managing testing throughout the SDLC (development testing, unit testing, API testing, performance testing, system testing, etc)
  • advanced knowledge of contemporary software quality assurance processes, methodologies and testing tools
  • thorough knowledge of testing and quality assurance in LINUX and Windows environments and relational database design & use including SQL and other open source technologies
  • strong understanding of different software development life cycles (experience with the successful rollout of Agile methodology will be well regarded)
  • strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner
  • well developed project management skills including project planning, estimation and release management
  • strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to understand and critique requirements
  • excellent communications skills including the ability to prepare and present reports to a range of audiences
  • knowledge of financial market data (highly desirable).
