Karel Nolles
SIRCA Research
Karel Nolles was previously a Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty
of Commerce & Economics at The University of New South Wales,
and joined SIRCA at the start of 2006 to establish the SIRCA Experimental
Economics Laboratory (SEE Lab). Karel has worked as a consultant
in the energy and environmental markets since 1993, and commenced
a PhD using experimental economics in 2001, which he is currently
finalising. He was a Visiting Research Fellow for 3 months in each
of 2003 & 2004 with the Nobel Prize winning experimental economics
team at the Interdisciplinary
Centre for Economic Science at George Mason University.
He has published in both academic and industry journals, and received
a number of academic scholarships. In 2005 he was awarded a grant
from the Australian Stock Exchange to develop experimental economics
tools for education purposes.
Karel has undertaken consulting and research work with a wide range
of groups including Ergon Energy (Using experiments to inform trading
strategy), the Australian Financial Markets Association and the
Government of Tasmania (Implementing the Basslink settlement residue
auctions) and the NSW EPA (advising on the design of the primary
issuance auction for the Hunter River Salinity Scheme).
