Gail Pemberton-Burke
Chairperson
Gail enjoyed a successful international executive career before transitioning in 2008 to become a Non-Executive Director and independent consultant. Gail, was educated in Australia with post graduate studies in Australia, the US and Switzerland. She worked primarily in the finance industry, initially in information technology, rising from the CIO role to COO and then CEO roles.
Immediately before returning to Australia to pursue a Non Executive Director career, Gail held the post of Chief Operating Officer UK at BNP Paribas Securities Services, following on from her role as CEO and Managing Director, BNP Paribas Securities Services, Australia and New Zealand. Gail joined BNP Paribas after a highly successful 20 year career at Macquarie Bank, where she held the role of Group CIO for twelve years, at a time of unprecedented change and expansion, and subsequently as COO of the Financial Services Group in her last three years.
Gail’s current Board roles include Director UXC, Director Baycorp, Director SIRCA, Director of the recently listed Onthehouse.com and Chairman of OneVue. She also provides independent consulting services to the NSW Government Department of Premier and Cabinet on their Corporate and Shared Services reform program and also acts as Chair of the program’s Risk and Assurance sub-committee. Gail previously served on the Board of Alleron Funds Management, Air Services Australia, the Sydney Opera House Trust and Harvey World Travel.
Gail has highly developed skills in technology and operations management, risk management and strategy development. She is particularly experienced in complex change management, business process rationalization and outsourcing. She has also driven the operational and technology aspects of numerous mergers and acquisitions driving out costs and achieving synergies. She also has extensive experience in the tools and techniques of strategic human resource management including remuneration and reward systems, performance measurement and management, organisation culture and staff engagement assessment.
These skills have been recognized in a number of advisory appointments including Member of the Advisory Board of the Department of Information Systems at Melbourne University, and Member of the Federal Government’s Information, Technology and Telecommunications Advisory Board (ITTPAC), She was recognised by the Federal Government with the award of a Centenary Medal in 2002 for outstanding services to Australian business.
Gail is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors where she is an accredited facilitator for both the Risk and Strategy Modules of the Company Directors Course.
Peter James Booth
Deputy Chairperson
Professor Peter Booth is Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Senior Vice-President at the University of Technology, Sydney, where he was previously Dean of Business and Professor of Management Accounting. Peter is a FCPA and FCA, and a former member of CPA Australia's Strategic Business Management Centre of Excellence.
Peter is responsible for the academic faculties at the University of Technology, Sydney, the academic profile and student load, coordination of planning and quality management and indigenous education.Peter has extensive research and teaching experience in management accounting, and has been a chief investigator on over $3.2 million of external competitive and industry research grants. His major areas of interest are the impact of information technology, such as Enterprise Resource Planning systems and e-business, on management accounting practices, the role of accounting in collaboration in organisational networks, the development and adoption of management accounting innovations, such as Activity-Based Costing, how decision makers form judgments under various circumstances and innovations in accounting education.
Peter is a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Australian Learning and Teaching Council, and has had experience as a Director on other companies.
John Masters
John is a former partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Australia. He retired from PwC in December 2009 after 25 years as a partner. John is a qualified chartered accountant and lawyer.
John has specialised in financial services throughout his professional career. He held a number of leadership and management positions in his career with PwC, including Global Financial Services Tax & Legal leader, and Financial Services practice leader in Australia and Asia.
Over the years, John has undertaken major policy consulting to the Commonwealth and NSW Governments on investment attraction, taxation, the establishment of government agencies, and financial services generally. He was a member of the Commonwealth Government's AXISS Advisory Board. John continues to be retained formally by the Government for advice and assistance in the area.
John is currently a Director of ING Bank (Australia) Limited and chairs the Board's Audit Committee.
He is a member of the board of Intersect Australia Ltd, another not-for-profit company, established by the NSW universities and government to support NSW academic, government agency and private sector e-research across all disciplines, including the humanities and social sciences.
John is President and Chairman of the board of the Art Gallery Society of NSW. John is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW Foundation.
Tony Adcock
Tony is the Founding Director of Red Pill Holdings Pty Ltd providing strategic management, Executive Coaching and consulting services to all industries. Prior to this, Tony was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting and IBM Business Consulting Services, running a business unit across the Asia-Pacific.
Tony is also Chairman of Nubax Ltd, a non-Executive Director of Xceed Capital Ltd. and Director of The Bathurst Group. Tony holds an MBA from the University of Hull, U.K. & Singapore and a B.Sc. with Honours in Economics and Politics.
Tony was previously General Manager, Treasury and Capital Markets for an Australian bank. He is a Fellow and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australiasia.
Ross Chapman
Ross is Professor of Management and Head of the Deakin Business School within the Faculty of Business and Law, Deakin University. Prior to joining Deakin in May 2010, Ross held several senior management positions including Associate Dean (Research) for the UWS College of Business and Director of the Centre for Innovation and Industry Studies.
Before returning to academia in 1986, Ross worked for several companies including Pasminco and North Broken Hill Holdings in technical, QC/QA and R&D management positions. Since 1990 he has taught and researched predominantly in the areas of Quality Management; Continuous Improvement; Innovation and Technology Management; and Operations Management.
Ross is author or co-author of 3 books and over 90 refereed journal and conference papers in the above areas. He is currently supervising 5 doctoral research students and has 15 PhD supervision completions to date.
Among several professional memberships, he is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is currently an Executive- or Non-Executive Director on the Boards of four not-for-profit organisations including that of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) where he was appointed Treasurer in 2008 and was elected President of the Academy for 2011.
Kevin Davis
Kevin Davis is Professor of Finance at the University of Melbourne. Prior to his appointment at the University of Melbourne in 1987, he was a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Adelaide. His primary research interests are in the areas of financial institutions and markets, financial engineering and corporate finance. He is co-author/editor of numerous books in the areas of finance, banking, monetary economics and macroeconomics and numerous journal articles and chapters in books. He is on the Board (and previously Chairperson) of the Melbourne University Credit Union, and has developed and presented numerous training programs for banks and businesses. He has undertaken an extensive range of consulting assignments for financial institutions, business and government. He was the Inaugural Director of the Melbourne Centre for Financial Studies from July 2005 til December 2008, and is currently its Research Director.
Charles Littrell
Charles is Executive General Manager, Policy, Research and Statistics, Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA). Charles has held a number of senior appointments in industry including Westpac Banking Corporation. Charles is also a member of the Faculty Advisory Board of the Faculty of Economics and Business at The University of Sydney. Charles holds a BA (Economics) and a Masters of Economics (Honours).
Peeyush Gupta
Peeyush Gupta's career is within financial services. He was a co-founding director and inaugural Chief Executive Officer of Ipac Securities Limited, a pioneering and leading Australian wealth management firm. Ipac was sold to AXA APH in 2002, where Peeyush continued as Ipac's CEO and joined AXA Australia's executive committee as General Manager Advice. Since 2009, Peeyush has pursued a portfolio career, including boards, consulting and investing activities. He is currently on the boards of AMP Capital Investors, MLC's Advice and Licenses, Murdoch Books, and Quintessence Labs.
Peeyush holds a degree in Computer Science and an MBA in finance from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He is also an alumnus of Harvard University and London Business School.
Peter Warne
Peter is a Director of a number of public companies including the Australian Securities Exchange Ltd, Macquarie Group Ltd, ALE Property Group, Next Financial Ltd and WHK Group Ltd. Peter is also Deputy Chairman of Capital Markets CRC Limited and a member of the advisory board of the Australian Office of Financial Management. Peter has held a number of senior positions in investment banking previously being a member of the senior management team at Bankers Trust Australia. Peter holds a BA in Actuarial Studies from Macquarie University.
