1. NEW VERSION OF RASP LAUNCHED

SIRCA has launched the new version of its Research Application Service Provider (RASP) following extensive modifications and testing by SIRCA researchers and programmers. A number of enhancements to the initial version have been made, which aid researchers in the search and extraction of financial data.

2. WHOEVER, FROM WHEREVER: IDENTITY FRAUD CONFERENCE

Following on from the success of SIRCA’s research publication, Identity Fraud in Australia: An evaluation of its nature, cost and extent, a half-day conference on the issue was held on the 3rd May 2004 in partnership with the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance (AIBF).

3. ASX SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED

SIRCA has announced the winners of the four scholarships offered in conjunction with its partner, Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). All scholarships were awarded to students undertaking study relating to work in the financial services industry in Australia.

4. ID FRAUD PROFILING SCHOLARSHIP

SIRCA is seeking applications for a full-time scholarship to support PhD study in ID fraud profiling. The graduate must have qualifications in Information Systems, and be a highly motivated and enthusiastic scholar, who wishes to work in the area of identity fraud.

5. 12TH AUSTRALIAN SUPERANNUATION COLLOQUIUM

The July 2004 Colloquium will take as its theme, Shortchanged? Pension fund governance and retirement provision. The aim of the annual colloquium of superannuation researchers is to provide a forum for superannuation and retirement income experts from academia, the public sector and the superannuation and wealth management industry to meet, discuss and present their research.

SIRCA Researcher Awarded PhD
Congratulations to Dr Jerry Parwada, from the University of NSW, who was recently awarded a PhD for his thesis on the institutional and strategic influences of fund managers’ attributes on money flows in investment management companies.
