Morningstar Data
SIRCA provides research access to the Morningstar FundTraq2 database
- the industry standard Australasian retail and wholesale managed
investments database.
FundTraq2 includes information on over 6000 ‘active’
funds and another 4000 ‘inactive’ funds in Australasia.
What
data is collected?
Information is provided by Morningstar Pty Ltd (“Morningstar”)
on the basis of data provided by managed investment companies. Where
fund managers choose to provide Morningstar with data that is in
the correct Investment Management Data (IMD) format, it is electronically
loaded in to the FundTraq2 database and available almost instantaneously.
Information collected includes: Daily unit prices, monthly fund
performance, star ratings, asset allocations, fund size data, tax
breakdown information, and portfolio holdings data.
Who can access the data?
The data is available to all SIRCA Foundation and Subscribing members.

This document details all the information that is available. Please
refer to Section 7 (pg 10) and 8 (pg 13) for Data Module and Record
index and Layouts.
How do I access the data?
To access the FundTraq2 data, a request must be submitted via the
SIRCA online Data Consult Form. Once SIRCA has produced the data
it will be made available on our server.
How much will it cost?
All SIRCA Foundation and Subscribing members are entitled to unlimited
Data Consults for Morningstar data. In the majority of cases, there
will be no charge. SIRCA have negotiated a nominal fee for data
requests that may require an excessive amount of programming or
data extraction time. In this situation Morningstar will access
each request and advise if a nominal fee will be required. In the
event that this is the case, SIRCA will advise the Member who has
requested the data of the situation, advise the cost of providing
the data or suggest alternative approaches with will mitigate the
cost. The payment will be made directly to Morningstar by the Member.
How will I receive the data?
Once SIRCA has produced the data it will be made available on our
server. The format for the files is comma-delimited ASCII.
